Problem

How do we enable sellers to quickly identify top-performing products and ensure they're making the best market choices?

Goals

- Enhanced User Decision-Making: Enable sellers to make more informed product choices through clear, data-driven insights.
- Streamlined User Experience: Provide an intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface that simplifies the product selection process.
- User Trust: Build credibility through a transparent ranking system that explains why products are recommended.

Constraints

- Limited screen space for displaying recommendations.
- Budget and timeline limitations for the project.
- Users are located in different countries, far away from us.

Collaborative Brainstorming and Rapid Wireframing with Stakeholders

I initiated a brainstorming session with stakeholders, quickly turning collective ideas into wireframes. This approach not only accelerated the design process but also ensured that stakeholder input was instantly visualized, paving the way for prompt feedback and iterative development

Diverse Design Explorations for Seller's Product Picking

Cross-Platform Comparison

It allows sellers to compare top products across different e-commerce platforms. Its strength lies in its simplicity, offering a single key metric for easy browsing and comparison across platforms.

Comprehensive Ranking

This approach provides an in-depth ranking of products, showing their performance on each platform. It offers a wealth of data and metrics, giving a detailed view, but is more complex to navigate and interpret.

Focus on the Metrics

It emphasizes diverse metrics across a single e-commerce platform, showcasing separate rankings for each. It highlights top product choices for sellers, providing unique insights tailored to the specific metrics used.

Remote Usability Testing for Optimal Design Selection

To address remote usability testing challenges, including seller recruitment, I created prototypes for global sellers to test in varied settings. Utilizing a System Usability Scale (SUS) survey, I accommodated different time zones and schedules, overcoming technical and communication barriers, and ensuring a broad range of seller feedback for informed design decisions.

Prototyping

To address remote usability testing challenges, including seller recruitment, I created prototypes for global sellers to test in varied settings. Utilizing a System Usability Scale (SUS) survey, I accommodated different time zones and schedules, overcoming technical and communication barriers, and ensuring a broad range of seller feedback for informed design decisions.

SUS survey

To complement the prototype testing, I utilized the System Usability Scale (SUS) to quantitatively assess each design's usability. This standardized survey provided a clear, numerical measure of user satisfaction, making it easier to compare the effectiveness of each option directly. The SUS results were instrumental in validating our design choices, ensuring we chose the option that best met our users' needs.

Quantity and quality data analysis

In the 'Data Analysis' phase, we evaluated SUS survey results on usage frequency, data structure utility, and user-friendliness for the three design concepts. This analysis helped us understand each design's practicality, effectiveness, and ease of use, guiding us in selecting the most suitable design based on concrete user feedback

Decision Making

We chose the 'cross-platform comparison' design, with its high SUS score of 82, because users preferred its simple, clear comparison across different e-commerce platforms, making product evaluation more straightforward and user-friendly

Sharing my methodologies company-wide to help other designers succeed

I shared the methodologies from this project with our design team, focusing on remote usability testing techniques, the use of the SUS for feedback, and our decision-making process. This initiative aimed to equip other designers with practical project strategies and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaborative growth within our company.

Final Design

The 'cross-platform comparison' design's launch was a triumph, receiving accolades from users for its ease and efficacy. This success underscored the effectiveness of our user-centric, data-driven approach, significantly improving our sellers' product selection experience.

Impact

The launch of our design significantly boosted user engagement and positively impacted our revenue and average order value. These improvements reflect the design's success in enhancing user experience and contributing to business growth.
